Creating a Username

Creating a Username for Your FilesAnywhere Account

One of the first things you'll do when signing up for your FilesAnywhere account is to choose a username. Though it's straightforward and simple, there are a few things to keep in mind. We've put together some tips to take the guesswork out of creating your username.

Important Information and Tips for Creating a Username

  • Usernames may not be duplicated.

Your account is unique, and your username must be as well.

  • Usernames should be between 4-25 characters in length.

Though shorter usernames may be easier to remember, a longer username will be more secure.

  • Usernames may not contain spaces.

Spaces in your username may trigger error messages. Usernames may only be one word.

  • Usernames cannot be changed.

Once chosen, your username cannot be changed. It's a good idea to keep this in mind and choose a username that can be used for the life of your account. If your username MUST be changed, there is a system in place to create a new account and migrate your information.

  • Usernames may include any combinations of numbers and letters.

Though it's not required, you may use a combination of letters and numbers to create your username. If the name you wanted is already taken, adding numbers is an easy way to keep that original idea (e.g., if JOHNDOE is taken, JOHNDOE2011 might not be). In addition, usernames that combine letters and numbers are more secure.
