Issue:
When a user is using WinSCP and attempting to upload files with SFTP, they encounter the error:
"Upload of file 'example' was successful, but error occured while setting the permissions and/or timestamp"
Solution:
WinSCP has a setting that attempts to preserve timestamps when uploading files. You can turn off this option by following these steps.
- Open WinSCP
- At the top of the program, click on Options
- Click on Preferences...
- In the Preferences popup, click on Transfer on the left
- Under Transfer settings presets, make sure Default is selected
- Then click on Edit
- When the Transfer settings popup appears, uncheck Preserve timestamp under Common options.
- Click OK to save your changes
- Click OK at the bottom of the Preferences popup to close out
Now your default settings will omit this setting and you will not receive the error any further.
